I have been meaning to do a post about this for quite a while now. Since I don’t yet have my latest thread project completed, I figured this might be a good time to post about my vintage piece. My mom passed away in February, and then my mother-in-law in April. On the way home from my mother-in-law’s funeral I stopped off at my mom’s house. I remembered a piece that a neighbor lady tatted and gave to my mom many decades ago. Probably about 40 years ago. I so wanted to find it and bring it home. I feared that it had been tossed out, but I persevered. Looked through lots and lots of drawers. And wouldn’t you know it, this treasure was in the last drawer that I looked in!! I brought it home and hand-washed it and then took pictures of it. It now hangs in my kitchen. I love it! And I am so glad I looked through *all* of those drawers and didn’t give up.
The white flowers look pretty!! Tatting is generally done with thin thread but this one looks like done with a thicker one or is it the close up view? You are lucky and patient to find what you want:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Preeti. :) It is a thicker thread. Actually I think I'd call it a thin yarn. LOL This lady made the most beautiful tatted edgings on handkerchiefs. Wish I had some of those! :)
DeleteSo sorry for your losses xx That piece is beautiful-glad you found it, what a lovely keepsake x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, on all accounts. :)
DeleteBeautiful - and I'm sure it means so much more to you with its history.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deni, and you're right....a lot of sentimental value for me. :)
