Makin' Bacon

I am not into football at all, but since the others in my household were watching the big play-off game this past Sunday, I decided I'd watch some of it too. Well, I really didn't actually see a whole lot of the game because I was working on this project. My granddaughter's BD is in July, and I want to have a nice assortment of crocheted foods to give her when the time comes. I made these eggs a little while back, but on Sunday night I crocheted the strips of bacon. The pattern for the bacon can be found in this book in case you're interested in checking it out. I hope to make many more food items from this book. :)

Sorting Things Out

Saturday night I decided it would be a good time to sort through my thread and perhaps organize it a bit. Let me tell you, I have so many partial balls of thread. To look at it, you wouldn't think I ever use any of it up, but I sure do. I try to use it on any project that I can. But wow, do I have lots of it! To make it more manageable to store, I decided to get rid of some of the balls that hardly had anything on them. I'm not just going to pitch them though...I hope to find somebody around here that can make good use of them. Maybe a nursing home, school, or someplace. I need to do some checking around.

This is after I had the partial balls pretty well sorted by color. I felt a tad overwhelmed. Please tell me I am not the only one that has so much thread! :O

This is a large grocery bag full of odds and ends, and I have another small bag full as well.

My two organized bins of partial balls of thread. I also have another bin with new balls of thread. I think I'm set for a while. I *almost* ordered some more thread over the weekend, but after sorting through all of this I thought it best not to. ;)

Thank You!

I want to extend a big THANK YOU to all who have given me such a warm welcome to the crochet blogging world. I appreciate it so much, and am glad to be in such good company!

I've been thinking about starting a crochet blog for quite a while now, and finally decided now is the time. I do have another blog, which I've had for a few years now, but it is mostly of my grandchildren. I wanted a blog where I could meet, and get to know, other crocheters.

Thanks again! Nice to meet you!! :D

Granny Stripe Afghan

This is one of my WIPs. Probably will be a WIP for quite a while. I brought a basket of yarn up from the basement. And by basket, I mean a laundry basket (LOL). It is full of odds and ends skeins that need something done with them. So I decided on this granny stripe afghan. Thing is, I know with all the other projects I'll end up doing, that this won't get worked on very often. But I figure it'll give me a "mindless" project to work on when the urge strikes. :)

Reflections

This doily is called Reflections. Very pretty, I think. This will also be going to my daughter's mother-in-law. :)

Rising Sun Doily

First of all, welcome to my brand new crochet blog! I love to crochet and since I enjoy the crochet blogs of so many others, I thought it might be fun to start my own. :)

For my first post, this is the Rising Sun Doily. It is a crochet along over at Crochet Galore. The doily was very fun to make, and I know just who will be the recipient...my daughter's mother-in-law.

I didn't follow the directions exactly. To make the doily a bit smaller, I used the next stitch down for each of the stitches. For example I used a dc for a trc. Still worked up beautifully. Thanks for looking, and enjoy your day!
