3 Strand DC Afghan

Yay!  I’m finished with the three strand double crochet afghan!  Woohoo!  It used up a fair amount of leftover yarns, and that was my goal. I took it outside today for a little photo shoot. It was too long to hang from the clothesline properly, so I threw a few inches of it over the back.  The last picture will show that.

Weekend Tidbits

Hello, and I hope you are having a pleasant weekend.  I think I am getting yet another cold…but I do hope I am wrong.  Other than that, I’ve had a very nice weekend. Got to see two of my three grandchildren, had some delicious homemade pierogies (bought them at a festival), and Rick stopped at the Good Will store, for me, last night. I also have a new doily to share with you.  So, let’s get started, shall we?

First up…the doily.  It’s one where the pattern is several rows, and then I add on to it however I’d like.  I’m really having fun doing this!

Now for my GW finds.  If you watch QVC, especially the cooking segments, you will recognize this stoneware!  I was surprised to find this in a GW store, but I snatched it right up. I had never bought any before because it is a bit more than my budget allows…but at the GW the larger dish was $4, and the smaller was $2.

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with cute little bunnies, and I found this cutie for 99 cents.

I got this little cup to use as a vase.

I thought this was pretty with the flowers on it.  Rick pointed out that he thinks it is actually an ashtray.  I told him I don’t really care, I bought it because I like the floral design. I also bought a pretty pillowcase, but it’s in the wash, so I don’t have a picture of it yet.

Last, but certainly not least, is this Donald Duck hat I made for my grandson, Lawson.  His mommy wanted it for Halloween, so I wanted to get one made and make sure it fits. If not, I’d have made another, but luckily this one seems to fit just fine. Whew!  I didn’t use a pattern for it, but I did find some pictures of Donald hats online, and used them as my guide.  I think Lawson likes his hat! Yay!!!

That’s all for now, folks.  Thanks for stopping by.  I truly appreciate it!

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall…or Autumn…whichever you prefer to call it.  Here in my neck of the woods it has been a beautiful week.  Today I decided I’d go out and enjoy nature a bit…with my camera, of course!

This first picture is from yesterday. I think this little lady was stopping on her journey to a warmer climate. I hadn't seen hummingbirds at my feeder for a few weeks, but was keeping food in it anyway. Glad I did, since she stopped by yesterday.

I took this picture this morning.  We live on a hill, and our house is surrounded by tall oak trees. This seems as though it’s going to be a bumper crop year for acorns…which the wildlife are going to enjoy.

I love how this goldenrod picture turned out!

This is our home.  As you can see…we are surrounded by tall oak trees!

Two New Doilies

When I am not working on my 3 strand blanket, I have been crocheting doilies.  Here are my two most recent doilies. I know I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love the Excellence pattern.  It looks so beautiful done up in so many colors! This one is done in neutrals.  Antique Lace is in the middle, then a few different brands of white, and then the very outer edge is an ecru.

This is another doily where the pattern was only several rows, and then I added to it to make it bigger.  I am having fun doing that. The first green row is where the pattern ended.

The big news here is that my son, Brandon, got engaged last weekend!  We are all so excited, and are anxious for next year to get here.  LOL  They’ll be getting married sometime in 2015, but haven’t set the date yet.

Hope all are having a nice weekend, and here’s to a great week ahead!

Excellence Doily ~ Fall Colors

My most recent doily creation.  I absolutely love this pattern!  It’s called Excellence Doily and can be found in Decorative Crochet #8.  This is at least the third one I’ve made.  It’s so pretty done up in various color schemes.  This one was inspired by the great outdoors.  The Ironweed is blooming right now, and is such a gorgeous purple color!

Butterflies, a Doily and Mr. Innocent

I made some more butterflies…

…and another doily that I added rounds to, to make it the size I wanted.

Over the Labor Day weekend I went to my daughter’s house and puppy-sat for them while they went to camp.  This is a picture of Mr. Innocent…aka Ollie.  Winking smile He’s a puppy through and through.  LOL  He looks innocent enough, but boy can he be a turd!

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying some crochet time.  I managed to pick up a cold over the weekend.  My throat is quite painful and scratchy, stuffy nose, etc.  ‘Tis the season.  The grandkids are back in school.  lol  I’m working on another doily right now.  Should finish it up today.  Take care, and have a great day!
