I finished this afghan last night! Woohoo! I have an afghan completed for grandbaby #3 and now I can move on to other projects. I know a lot of people have several projects going at once, but once I start a project I like to get it finished before heading on to the next one. Even though I have until December to complete this afghan, I am tickled to have it finished now. And I love the rich colors in this afghan. :)
ETA: You can find the pattern here.
(Edited yet again. See the word "here" above? Just give the word a click and you will be taken to the pattern. Honest! LOL)
A close-up of the edging.
Oh Rita, this is amazing. Certainly will be a keepsake for this precious new little one.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Gloria. :)
DeleteGorgeous Rita! Love the colors! What yarn is this? Hugs, Gina

ReplyDeleteOhh wow, I love it... I love the design you choose for it.. never seen that one! I wish I were more like you...I have about three projects going on at once.. I get bored fast with just one that I have to put it down and do something else then go back.. crazy but true!
ReplyDeleteme too glad to hear i am not the only one in the world that way :)
DeleteThanks so much, everybody! I edited this post to add where I found the pattern. So sorry I forgot to include the info in my original post.
ReplyDeleteGina, this is the yarn I used for this project: http://us.deramores.com/stylecraft-special-dk-colour-pack I ordered the yarn late last summer or early fall, and got a deal on it plus free shipping. :)
Shari...I wish I were more like you and could set things aside and work on other stuff. LOL The afghan didn't "have" to be finished until Dec., but once I started I just had to finish it. ;)
Those colors are rich and beautiful. What a wonderful Grandma you are!
ReplyDeleteGreat work Rita! I adore the lively colors and the baby will like them too. I hope it comes healthy and strong!
ReplyDeleteLove ya!

That afghan is just gorgeous! That pattern is on my list!
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy recently, I haven't had time for all my favourite things, like looking at pictures of pretty things on other people's blogs! :-) Your colour scheme is absolutely beautiful, the afghan is just radiant. Thank you for letting me know, I would've hated to miss such beautiful photos (and, by the way, I also love the wee dolly's afghan - so cute!) Best wishes and many thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful afghan! Where did you find this pattern, it's so unique! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shellie. The URL is in the text of this blog post. :)
DeleteI CAN NOT FIND IT AT ALL
DeleteNot sure why you're hollering at me. :( But at the very end of the text portion of this post...before the pictures start...is the sentence that states "ETA: You can find the pattern here." You should be able to click on the word "here" and it will take you directly to the pattern that I used.

Hi Gramma Rita,
ReplyDeleteI love this blanket so much, but I have a question for you. The link to the yarn you posted - was the amount of yarn from one pack sufficient for the full length pattern (I assume that was what you made based on the pictures) or did you buy more than one pack? Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of art and love. I'm sure your grandchild will treasure this their whole life.
Haley
My fingers typed faster than my brain was working. My comment should have said something along the lines of "I'm assuming you made a baby blanket from the pictures" but I typed full length because I was thinking about making a full length. ha :) Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHaley
Thank you, Haley. :) This afghan pattern really is a joy to make. As for the amount of yarn...I only bought one of the Lucy packs of yarn, and I had a lot left over. I wish I could tell you the measurements of the afghan, but being that it's not here, I can't do that. However, I can tell you that I made it to be used in the baby's crib. So I guess I'd call it crib size. It would be big enough for a child to use, but not an adult. Hope this helps a bit!
DeleteSorry, guess I'm getting old, I can't see where you can access the pattern. The ETA pattern here does not link to any where. It looks so awesome would like to try it.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering why it isn't showing up for others. I can see it. LOL Here is the link: http://gingerschatz.blogspot.com/2010/10/pattern-ribbon-afghan.html
DeleteI am not sure why the link isn't showing for others. I can see it fine, and click on it. But since so many are having trouble finding it, I will copy and paste the link here for you:

Maravilhoso!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteThank you for the pattern, you do beautiful work! For the ones having trouble with the link, the word 'here' isn't underscored or highlighted, but when you click on it you will go directly to the pattern site.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Thanks for your compliment...and thanks for letting folks know that if you click on the word "here" that they will be taken to the pattern. I made the word "here" in a different color hoping that would help, but it didn't seem to. LOL
DeleteWow I see you made it to 'Knit & Crochet Now on Facebook! Beautiful blanket!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy! :)
DeleteGrammy Rita. I have never commented on a blog before. Your work is beautiful and I plan to use it for a stash buster. However, the edging doesn't seem to be included in the pattern. Is there somewhere I can find it? Thank you

ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. :) I didn't follow a pattern for the edging. Just did my own thing. I tend to do that a lot. LOL
DeleteBeautiful. Without words.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. May I ask your opinion on how many chains I should begin with if I want an afghan to cuddle up in to watch tv? I do not have enough experience to know. Thank you very mich.
