Frozen Wall Decor

Miss Adelyn will be celebrating her 5th birthday near the end of this month.  For her birthday, she wanted her bedroom done in a Frozen theme. Since she loves Frozen, my first idea was to make her a Frozen crocheted hat.  I scratched that idea, and decided to make her a crochet edged fleece blanket that would match her room decor. Turns out my sharp crochet hook didn’t want to go through the fleece without a fight for each stitch.  So I had to scratch that idea, too.  Lastly, I decided to edge some prints in some pretty crochet.  These actually cooperated!  LOL  She is also getting two other presents from Pa and Gramma Rita, but I really wanted to make her something as well. :)

These are what I came up with. I printed images found on the Internet, and covered them front and back with clear contact paper. Punched holes around the edges, then crocheted around the prints. I had some sticky backed snowflakes that I used for embellishing them. (Laura B., if you’re reading this, do not tell {or show} your daughter!  LOL)

  1. Great idea! They look lovely :-) By the way, if you want to put a crocheted edge around a fleece blanket, work a blanket stitch around the edge first-this gives you something to crochet into

    1. Thank you! :) Oh, I started to do a blanket stitch around the fleece, but after about six inches of it, I told my husband I was not gonna want to do that around two yards of fleece. LOL Plus, I prefer the look of a totally crocheted edging. :)

    2. I'm not too patient with my stitching either lol so I tend to take a really long time working blanket stitch-it's probably why I crochet my blankets and not use fleece!

I think what you've made are delightful and I'm sure she'll love them x

  2. Happy Birthday, Adelyn! I don't know what the fascination with Frozen is with kids cause I didn't really like the movie. But I'm just an old grandma so it doesn't matter!

  4. Those look very sweet birthday gifts !! :) the crocheted edging and the snowflake embellishments look wonderful!! I am sure Adelyn will love them.
My daughter is crazy about frozen too:) I have seen the movie twice. It's nice but not wow as I felt when I first saw the movie tangled. The problem with disney movies is they don't change the look of the main cast. The girl in the frozen looks same as the one in tangled.
