"Patchwork" Crochet

This is the project I have kept busy with the last couple of weeks...a granny square blankie made of variegated squares trimmed in white. I was inspired by Debi Y.'s blog post over at Crochet, Crafts & Gardening. I loved the look of her squares made with variegated yarn, and got the idea to do a blankie using only the variegated yarns in my leftovers stash. It was going to be a project that I worked on "whenever", but like any other project I start, I can't seem to just set it aside for "whenever". LOL I had to keep going on it until it was finished. I decided to make it a child size afghan for my grandkids to use. :) Thanks, Debi Y., for the inspiration! :)

My granny sqaures are six rounds each with a round of white sc for the edging. I joined them using a Rita method...meaning I did "whatever". LOL I suppose it's similar to the flat braid join method, but I don't like to constantly have to remove my hook, so I just pretty much did my own thing, and it really doesn't have a name. Of course, one can join them in any manner they wish. :)

I love this blankie. To me it is reminiscent of a patchwork quilt, only in crochet. :)
